The following links are to sites which are some of the more useful sites on the Internet:

: The following  programs can be downloaded from their publisher's sites, or from download.com, a trusted and reliable site for software downloads.
Just search for the name of the file in the search box near the top of the page.
Free Security Software

ZoneAlarm is a top-performing Firewall, protecting computers from both incoming and outgoing threats.

Malwarebytes' Antimalware is in my opinion, among the best antispyware sofware available.
AVG is the best free Anti-Virus that I've found.
SpywareBlaster will 'innoculate' your computer from some malicious scripts, I highly recommend it.
Spybot: Search & Destroy is another spyware scanner, this one also features an 'innoculation' component to help prevent them from reoccuring.
http://www.superantispyware.com/images/IMGBanner1_120x90.gif Superantispyware is one of THE BEST products. The free version is good, the paid version even better.   SUPERAntiSpyware, with over 20 million users worldwide, is the most thorough scanner on the market. Its Multi-Dimensional Scanning and Process Interrogation Technology will detect spyware other products miss! Easily remove pests such as Vundo, TDSS, AntiVirus Pro 2010, and thousands more! Repair broken Internet Connections, Desktops, Registry Editing and more with the unique Repair System. The Dedicated Threat Research Team scours the web for new threats and provides daily definition updates.  This is THE ONE I recommend to be Registered, to enable REAL TIME Protection.

I use this on most systems I have to 'reclaim' from spyware and viruses!
Other reliable software you can also get at download.com:
CCleaner, a durable cleaner utility for XP, Vista and Windows 7.   Cleans old junk files, the registry, AND lets you edit the startup programs which start when you first turn on your computer.  This can REALLY speed up your computer, getting that clutter out of your startup.
Auslogics Disk Defrag, better than what comes with Windows, works in XP, Vista and Windows 7.
